The first nice rice store in Zhejiang Province is located at Hangzhou MixC, continuing the brand’s exploration of a harmonious relationship between architectural design and local cultural context.
The Hangzhou store takes inspiration from the concept of the “Hangzhou-style Grand House,” drawing on key elements such as harmony with nature, the renzi (herringbone) roof line, and exposed rafters. From a minimalist white exterior box to a rectangular wooden interior space, the design reveals the dual character of Hangzhou — where classical heritage and contemporary life coexist.
More than a thousand suspended exterior panels sway gently with the wind, evoking ripples across the surface of West Lake. The herringbone roof form is inspired by traditional Hangzhou architecture, preserving generous ceiling height and creating a space that feels open, fluid, and natural. At the entrance, a continuously transforming digital installation and a reconfigurable screen with changeable lettering introduce new forms of interaction between people and the architectural space.
Through a direct interpretation of the Hangzhou-style Grand House, the design aims to convey this distinctive architectural language to visitors, allowing them to sense the enduring charm and value of traditional culture within the vibrancy of a modern city.
