The first nice rice store in Chongqing is located in the core area of Phase II of Chongqing MixC. Marking the brand’s fifth anniversary, nice rice once again collaborates with say architects, drawing on the design concept of “Planting a Grain of Rice.” In the misty mountain city, this concept plants a vision: that a bowl of good rice — like well-made clothing — becomes an indispensable supporting presence in everyday life.
The Chongqing store takes the form of a standalone pavilion with 360-degree glass façades. A monumental rice-grain installation descends from above, enveloping the structure and establishing itself as the visual focal point of the plaza. Beyond its symbolic presence, the oversized rice grain also conceals the previously cluttered rooftop equipment, naturally transforming into a new element of the urban landscape.
Inside, functional zones unfold around this central gesture. In the café area, the “rice grain” becomes a wooden round table. The natural texture of wood brings a sense of vitality, while warm timber tones soften the otherwise crisp spatial atmosphere. Seated around the table, the circular form encourages inclusivity, subtly reducing the distance between people.
Three meals a day, every day with rice — rice has long been the material staple of Eastern life. Just as there are many beautiful garments but only a few that are truly essential, nice rice seeks to become that indispensable “good rice” in daily living. From this understanding, the idea of planting a grain of rice naturally emerges, with the hope that this single grain will grow into a lasting urban landmark and a shared memory for the city of Chongqing.
