Golden Hour
The new nice rice concept store is located in Aranya Queyue Town. While many past designs have expressed sustainability through material choices — materials may weather and change over time — light itself carries a sense of enduring beauty. Taking advantage of a standalone building and its exceptional location, the project allows light to become the architectural language. By bringing Aranya’s iconic “orange sea” into the space, the design captures shifting moments through layered volumes and the interplay of light and shadow, creating a timeless Golden Coast that never fades.
Bringing Aranya’s Orange Sea Indoors
Beyond chasing the 4 a.m. sunrise, the intention is to merge architecture with nature — to create a place within a retail environment where one can pause and encounter the romance of Aranya’s orange sea at any moment.
Tilted clothing rails echo the curves of ocean waves, while overhead lighting casts downward, allowing warm orange tones to gradually ripple across the floor. Through diffuse reflection, the light washes over pristine white walls, wrapping the space in a golden afterglow — as if standing by the sea at dusk.
Each floor features window frames of varying sizes, framing different views. Outside, the night appears deep blue; inside, the orange sea flows gently. Between interior and exterior, yellow and blue shift roles, inviting free exploration and offering a unique visual experience at every turn.
Freezing Beautiful Moments in Time
The three-story building is clearly organized: the first and second floors are dedicated to retail, while the rooftop terrace provides a space for rest and relaxation. Swing seats inspired by Aranya’s seaside swings are brought indoors, moving gently within the orange sea. A photo installation on the rooftop terrace allows visitors to capture and take home a moment of beauty.
A dramatic vertical atrium connects all three floors, and through minimalist architectural volumes, the interior feels open and filled with light. Curved vaulted ceilings soften and absorb sunlight, allowing it to flow naturally into the space, scattering golden highlights throughout. Drawing inspiration from nature, with the blue sky as a backdrop, the building becomes part of its surroundings — golden waves surge within, and moments of sunrise and sunset are forever held in place.
